Charge your EV on excess solar with Enphase

SundialEV connects to Enphase through Enphase's official developer API and reads your production — plus grid and IQ Battery data when your system has a consumption CT and battery. It's a straightforward way to charge on surplus without Enphase's own EV charger.

Four steps, no new hardware

  1. Choose Enphase
    In Solar setup, choose Enphase and sign in to Enphase to approve access.
  2. Pick what your system meters
    SundialEV maps production, and grid and battery when your system reports them.
  3. Connect your car or charger
    A Tesla directly, or any EV through a Wallbox Pulsar Plus or Emporia charger.
  4. Plug in
    Charging follows your surplus from Enphase's readings.

Known limits

  • Enphase's API reports in 15-minute intervals, so charging follows the sun with some lag.
  • Microinverter-only systems with no consumption CT have no grid reading; SundialEV estimates surplus from production minus your baseline household use.
  • Want faster data? If your Envoy is readable on your own network, the push API can feed SundialEV directly.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an alternative to Enphase's Green Mode?
It covers the same job — charging from surplus solar — for cars and chargers Enphase doesn't control: any Tesla directly, or any EV on a Wallbox Pulsar Plus or Emporia charger.
Do I need a consumption CT?
No, but it helps. With one, SundialEV sees your grid flow directly; without one, it estimates surplus from production minus your baseline use.
Why is there a delay?
Enphase's cloud API publishes production in 15-minute intervals. The push API, fed from your Envoy on your local network, removes most of that lag.
